The possibility of using wavelet transforms for bidirectional scaling of high and ultrahigh definition TV images is considered in the article. The method’s influence at the efficiency of encoding 4K and 8K video streams is researched. The estimation of the distortions introduced by this method in comparison with traditional adaptive and non-adaptive image scaling methods are presented.
